I am tossing around the idea of selling my H&K USP 40 and replacing it with a Glock or S&W M&P.

Before doing anything, I thought I would get some information from people who are much more knowledgeable than I in this matter.

In addition, if I were to do this, what would be a fair asking price for a H&K USP 40?

Thanks!

Glocks and M&P's are both nice pistols. I own Glocks and actually selling one soon to get an M&P. I prefer the Glock's trigger to the M&P but for some extra cash you can make the M&P's trigger a lot better. I also don't think you can beat the ergonomics of the M&P.

Can't go wrong with either really. Both are reliable and popular. S&W has a great warranty and made in the USA.

So let me ask this, should I stick with the H&K, or sell it and make the change? If I were to, would I be downgrading to a lesser quality handgun?

No, I don't think you would be "downgrading" at all, if you sold the HK you could probably get one of the other two, a TCB holster, sights and a few more spare mags and still have a great pistol. But you need to make the decision on what you want. I prefer Glocks and M&Ps to others.

I like Sigs and HK's are nice too but for the money I would rather buy two M&P or two Glock pistols. JMO

I traded my USP40 for a stainless Colt Delta in 10mm with a few upgrades. USP40 with 3 mags, holster and dual mag pouch value was about $750

Hard to go wrong with any of the three. What is it about the USP that makes you want to trade it and which of the other two best fills that deficiency? I love the ergonomics of the M&P but love the military discount of the Glock even more, so I have Glocks. If the price was the same I'd go with the M&P (or I should say "I'd go with the M&P also").

So maybe around $650 with two mags and the handgun?

Honestly I like the USP, was just looking for a change and would not mind having another 9mm to be able to share ammo with my EDC.

S&W offers some rebates for military. I thought they had something similar to a "blue label" program too unless this is it. Some of the prices I have seen online (and local) and with the rebate would make it well below a blue label Glock.

Thanks everyone for the input, I think I am going to let the USP go and pick up a M&P.

You are not going to a lesser quality handgun at all. Glock and M&P quality if just as good as H&K's USP line of handguns. What you are buying for $900 MSRP is $300 extra for the name. I like H&K handguns VERY much.. However.. I would never own another one unless I got a great deal on it. You might find that accuracy 25+ yards might be a little better with HK.. But they are absolutely NO better than M&P or GLOCK..

I love my Glocks. I Love my M&P's even more. The M&P's FEEL better to me. Expescially my M&P .45 FS.. The PERFECT double stack .45.
However, Glocks trigger feels MUCH better to me. After shooting my M&P's, Glock's trigger almost feels like a tuned, competition trigger. LoL
But M&P Triggers are good enough.. = (

*Note.. I REFUSE to put a $150 APEX trigger on a brand new f'n gun. Just won't do it. It is a moral issue. Smith and Wesson should figure out the fix and do it themselves. Make it a $20 option.

Honestly that is what has kept me from getting one but I have finally given in. Sold a G19 to get an M&P. Also S&W seems to have finally caught on and is supposed to be shipping the M&P with APEX parts or similar parts to give it the better trigger. I am hoping Jeremy finds me one soon but if not I may just send it to ATEi for some work. $60 more for a better trigger.
