Anyone ever used or owned a XCR? I handled one at shot show this year and loved the controls and ergonomics. The company itself seems to have just horrible reviews, but I'm intrigued by the design. So if you have actual experience with one, I'd love to hear about it.

I have very limited experience with them. My best friends dad has one and he LOVES it. I think it is cool (he SBR'd it), but i do not see any great gains other than OA length when folded. My AR was MUCH cheaper and shoots as well or better. Shoots clean and as it should, straight, true and fast

I like mine. 1200 rounds of .223 down the pipe.

I have the 762x39 barrel (200rounds) and that runs well with any ammo with c-products mags as well. when I got the this barrel I got the updated trigger.

I've been trying to get a 545x39 barrel for it but their reseller is not getting the product....

I'd sell it right now for $2600.00 with both barrels, mags, and aimpoint comp ml3 2moa dot with killflash on top...plus all the rubber on the exposed rails. cash FTF in flag. troy battle sights available too, extra$ though.

Thanks for the responses. While I can appreciate the ARs I have as very fine firearms, the XCR seems to fix several things I find annoying. These include things like a good piston system, correctly located bolt release, and a charging handle that doesn't have to come into my face. Without the support of the AR market you are severely lacking in aftermarket options, but as long as I can get OEM parts I can live with that. Cost wise they are very close, if not cheaper, than an AR with similar features ($1500-1600 new).

I love the concept and control layout, but I didn't buy one because of lack of aftermarket parts, and my overall impression of Robinson Arms. I don't want to be held hostage to a single company if something goes wrong. If I need a spare part for my AR, I can get it nearly anywhere.

Yeah I've been heavily considering it because of the ergonomics and design, but reading the drama on the xcrforums has left a horrible taste in my mouth. With that said I did meet Mr. Robinson at shot show and thought he was a pretty nice guy that was very into his design and making it as good as he could, he just needs someone to help him with the customer service part.

Granted i only know one guy that owns one...but he has multiple uppers and other stuff and his experience has been top notch in dealing with Robinson. My friend can be an ass too so.....who knows anymore?

heh indeed. Like I said. He needs to hire somone to talk, he did more harm to his company in that one post on a forum that is specifically there to promote his products. Some people just have no idea how to actually run a business unfortunately. What's funny is that I don't think he cares. He's so backlogged that it still takes him 6 months to ship a rifle.

He will not be in a good position with his company once that backlog is no longer there. That is when good customer service will help to keep the doors open. A while back I saw some stuff on this rifle and it peaked my intrest but if the owner of the company has no regard for customer service then customer service will be horrible for everyone. I work too damn hard for my money to give it to a company like this. I'll wait until he has to license the design out or sell the company.

Here's the owner talking to a well known youtube guy. If you hate the youtube guy fine, but it's not a bad review of their current offerings and glimpse into the passion the owner has. Just want to offer all perspectives and not just one post that makes him look bad.

The guy did come off as a major ahole.

Two jobs everyone in the world thinks they would be good at are business owner and manager/supervisor.

They're also the two jobs almost nobody is really good at.

As I told one of my aspiring customers years ago, "You're an asshole and I don't work for assholes."

I don't buy from them either.

If I refused to buy products from companies that were run by assholes I'd be sitting naked and hungry in the middle of my street. :)

What I don't like about the XCR is that Robinson Arms is a small company making one product with a very small customer base. If they go under, or the owner croaks, or some other catastrophe befalls them, then you'll have a hell of a time getting parts. That's one of the reasons I don't like piston ARs. You take an industry-standard platform and convert it into a proprietary platform. If the folks that made it go away, then you're stuck.

The other thing about both the XCR and piston ARs is that I think they are solutions in search of problems. The problems with the M4-style platform are real, but they are not insurmountable, and they certainly don't require redesigning the entire rifle from the muzzle to the buttstock.

I am very pleased with my Rob Arms XCR-L .223 cal. I have had this firearm for over a year now and have well over 1000 rounds through it with out a problem . This platform is very well engineered I must say. Very reliable and user friendly. It has taken them a few years to get the bugs out and advance the design, so if you have a newer model you have yourself one hell of a fine firearm. This platform beats the AR in all areas of that there is no question. From what I understand it also out performs the SCAR and ACR. As for customer service in the US it leaves something to be desired, in Canada there is excellent service and parts.
