They're pretty rough at MEPS these days. Asthma's a no go unless he hasn't be under any medication for it since he was like 13. I certainly wouldn't discourage him from trying, but they can permanently DQ you if they decide it's severe enough. He might be better off giving it another year to see if he can stay off the meds for it and doing what Mark suggests. Just a heads up, I'd hate to see him permanently DQed if it's something he really wants to do.

I completely agree he's going to need at the very least another year, he's my boy and I know his limitations and he's very much just a big dough boy right now. And I too would hate to see him DQ permanently. Thank you Josh.

I also think that he uses his inhaler as too much of a crutch.

That's an interesting observation. I've known a lot of people who use various things as crutches over the years.

I don't know if it's me or his mother, I don't recall babying him so much. But he's the only son I have...so far..to my immediate knowledge...lol

I spoke with my buddy today about this because he's an incredible athlete and has suffered from bad asthma his entire life. He recently switched to allergy shots in order to try and alleviate some of the issues associated with the horrible air we have here in Phoenix. So far that's really been working for him and he's completely off the steroid inhalers. No idea if this will help your son but I do know the air quality here can be rather horrible.

Thank you Josh, his mother just took him to get a check up and sometimes I fear that the Dr. are "pushing" the "reliance" to xyz meds. attitude. And honestly I haven't "pushed" my son to do the pt training as I should. I really think that would benefit him physically and if anything just use the albuterol solutions only.

Hey Kevin - good to see you here! Hope I didn't bore you and your kids with the tour! :)

No way, it was great! Thank you so much Andrew. I read your post on how your daughter is getting to go on the field trip, and my daughter asked what a "desert still" is after she found out she thought it was way cool. But unfortunately her school doesn't have a cool teacher like that. :sorry:

And good to see you here also. And your avatar is something I wish I never sold, had 4 years ago. 3 of them were made by ARS- and the last one was an unknown Para. Just wish I could afford to shoot .308 without crying over the cost.
