That depends on what you use for a wad. The wrong one could be unsafe and it could end up being undependable.

Take a Claybuster wad, cut off the petals with scissors and use that and it should work well. That's one of the ways I make spreader loads.

Wow, thankyou. that is both cost effective and safer. Now I just have to worry about colum height.

If you need more column height, cut some wads out of a felt hat or cardboard or Styrofoam and place them on top of the cut off Claybuster and under the shot. Their weight and mass is negligible as far as pressure goes.

Wow, $2.00/each. You can probably make 20 of them for the price of one shell.

Incidentally, the .410 PDX stuff Winchester makes for the Judge has great hulls if you can find some. I'm getting around 10~12 reloads each with them.

No, that's loaded ammunition. The only place I've found for the once fired hulls is a good friend who has a S&W Governor and fires them from time to time, then gives me the empties. It's too bad because I'd buy empties anytime for a decent price.

I agree. They are good quality hulls. I will keep my eyes open at the local ranges.

Anyone who doesn't take reloading seriously shouldn't get involved in it. There's no room whatsoever for people who don't pay attention to what they're doing and check everything.

On another note, we should take future chats to the reloading forum as this is intended to be primarily for introductions.
