I've hear good things about the work that STG Firearms in Prescott Valley does. So much so, that they're handling the transfer of my NIB 12ga Ithaca AOW right now.

It's purple.

Seriously. Some weird defect in the metal or something, but it has a weird purple hue. I had to see it to believe. I told him he should sell it as a custom, one of a kind Colt.

I highly recommend Tim at acoating. Great guy and top notch work. Works out of his place in Glendale area. http://acoating.com/ I had him do a para p14 for me that turned out awesome.

That's goofy anodizing. I had a colt like that once. I wouldn't use any of these RayJay aftermarket guys on a Colt. SAW is capaple of correcting that with as close to a factory Colt finish as possible.

I've had black anodizing turn purple before on a couple of things. I have a black pen from benchmade actually that I've spent two years trying to get them to replace that turned purple. Would love to know what causes that. The first was on a vehicle so I thought it was UV exposure but my pen has always been inside of a bag so there goes that theory.

From what I have heard, it is simply the air that causes the reaction.

I am not a firearm finish professional, so I do not know...I do know, however, that it needs a new finish cause purple does not go with Coyote Tan, lol.

I need to do an updated review of my pen and so I was doing some research. I know this doesn't help you get it fixed but it seems like the best article I've found on the issue so far:

I'd love to have my rifle done in cerakote DE. I'll probably be talking to Tim about that soon. I also love the grey/green and grey/blue colors out there. Here's the Para I had done by him. Picture isn't the best but it gives you an idea on his work.

Thanks...what I thought was very funny is when I talked to Colt they were dazed and confused and had never heard of that ever happening.
